Other Spaces

Courses which are scheduled outside of both optimized space (see Optimized Spaces) and space controlled by their respective department need to be entered into RoomBook. These include spaces booked thorugh other departments or spaces outside of FAS.

Please note, this procedure is only to indicate to the Registrar's Office where the course will take place. These reservations must be made through the individual scheduler of the space in question.

1. Select the course for which you're adding preferences from the Academic Browser.

Department Rooms

Courses which will be meeting in space scheduled by their respective department still need to have their assignments entered into RoomBook, so as to feed this information to the university catalog and course websites.

1. Select the course for which you're adding preferences from the Academic Browser.

2. Double click to open the Course Navigator screen for that course.

3. Select the section which you would like to assign a room, then click "Edit".

4. In the "Room Settings" section, leave "Set Standard Room Preferences" button selected.

Optimized Rooms

Rooms scheduled by the FAS Registrar's Office, the Science Center Scheduling office, and William James Hall Building Operations use an automated process called "optimization". Courses requesting rooms in any of these spaces will need preferences set via RoomBook.

1. Select the course for which you're adding preferences from the Academic Browser.

2. Double click to open the Course Navigator screen for that course.

3. Select the section which you would like to add preferences for, then click "Edit".

Course Planners

Course planners are those responsible for scheduling the academic courses in their department or center. They typically enter their course room requirements in June for the Fall term and November for the Spring term. Room information needs to be entered for every course that will be regularly meeting in a space in order for this information to appear on course web sites and my.Harvard.
